Meditation… What else is there? Many of us drive through life lost (so lost) in the buzz of our stresses, worries, distractions, with no place to simply Be. To simply rest. If we don’t open a Space in our lives, in our own minds, and in our hearts- where else can contentment seep in?
Often misunderstood or avoided, meditation is essentially the only path to deep and lasting happiness. (Quite a bold statement, worth re-reading…) Yet how else but through direct observation -observation of the nature of our mind, and observation of the present- can we witness what blocks us from joy, and in turn free ourselves from these blocks? Afterall, where else can happiness lie but the eternal, present moment? How could something so simple bless such profound gifts?
Providing years of extensive meditation experience gleaned from retreats and intensives, coupled with deep wisdom gained from daily mindfulness practice & independent readings, I can gently guide you with gentleness and grace through the pitfalls and struggles that we all face when faced with nothing… but ourselves.
I am trained to the 4th level of Shambhala Warrior Training, in the Shambhala tradition, and have a special affinity to the beautiful heart-centred teachings of Pema Chödrön and Mooji. While many countless forms of meditation exist, I stress practice on the techniques aimed to deeply provide our modern minds with both a refuge and a place to hold our aches and struggles in a valid, compassionate and spacious container.
Here’s a taste of my gentle yet powerful style from my upcoming book:
…Rest in allowance of what this moment is presenting you…
Oftentimes this may be what we call a ‘negative’ emotion, but through observation- what meditation teaches, we see that it is only the mind which labels this state ‘negative’, the raw experience itself… simply is…
As we deepen our observations, we notice it is through this labelling that we create a resistance to the present. It is this resistance alone- not the passing emotion- which creates and prolongs the suffering we experience.
As our practice deepens, we begin to contact the greater space, the silence that surrounds and allows all. It becomes a close friend to us, eternal and trustworthy.
From here, we touch true, lasting peace – a peace that surrounds and embraces all.
The only key… is gentle, persistent practice.
